What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?
PTSD describes a set of symptoms that sometimes occur following an extremely stressful event and can persist indefinitely. You may find yourself feeling like you are going through the event again like you are back at that time, often in the form of flashbacks or nightmares.
You might be jumpy, more cautious than normal, and want to avoid reminders of the stressful event. Your sleep may also be disrupted and you can feel disconnected from people close to you. Depending on the nature of the event you may have stronger feelings of anger, guilt or shame.
PTSD is impactful in range of ways and people’s experiences differ tremendously. work very hard to find ways of feeling safe. can lead low mood or depression. Together, we can find a new way of making sense of your experience and use the recommended treatment to help reduce flashbacks and nightmares and buil.

Engaging in treatment for PTSD is very challenging and will be difficult at times. We will approach the problem at an agreed pace but you may be encouraged to try things that feel tough.
